A Walk in the Park

Littlefield Garden holds a significant place in my heart. Not only is it the most beautiful place on campus it was where I was able to have my first date with my girlfriend. This consisted of about 10 minutes of ice skating on the pond and the rest of the 2 hours of me slipping on my bum. Whilst it isn't winter we still regularly visit the area and I wanted to capture the beauty I see there.

The first thing you notice in the park is life in every stage. In this case you can see a tree beginning to grow whilst it isn't impressive now it very well could be a staple of the park in the future.

As you continue into the park you feel a peace that the rest of campus can not provide. Away from the distractions of daily campus life you get the chance to see nature with other students who enter the area just to calm down and relax.

Once you enter the path you see a whole world of trees in their own special stage of growth. Each tree competing for space and light that are needed for survival but, if they don't fight with each other they may not see tomorrow so their only choice is to climb and climb until they get their strongest.

Further along the path you run into a grandfather of the park. What was once a mere sapling has survived its environment and grown into an ecosystem for those around it with squirrels, bugs, and birds all using it in harmony while providing a perfect shady spot for passersby's.

Throughout the park something often overlooked is the end of the life cycle for many plants. While you wouldn't be looking for stumps they are a reminder of what was once there. We can not know what was once there but it could've supported an ecosystem within just like the previous tree and made this garden feel special.

Following these paths can lead to exactly where you might need to be. A bench a place to rest and take a seat and really admire the beauty around you before you turn around and walk back through all you just saw.
